MEET THE PASTOR
Gerald R. Menk
Following graduation, he was assigned to Zion Lutheran Church and School, St. Louis Missouri. He taught school for five years, was church organist and choir director. He also served a year as interim principal. It was during the summer of 1977 that he began taking classes at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. In the summer of 1979, he was officially accepted into the Colloquy program. At that time, he relinquished his teaching position and became a full-time student again, graduating from the seminary in May of 1980. He was then assigned to a delayed vicarage at St. John Lutheran Church, Galva, Iowa. Upon completion of his vicarage, he was certified by the Colloquy Board of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, was called by St. John to be their Pastor, and was ordained and installed on July 19, 1981. In 1974, Pastor Jerry was united in marriage with Mary Elizabeth Wolf at Fulda, Minnesota. This union was blessed with three children: Elizabeth Hope (Mrs. Mike) Jetto of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Joshua Gerald of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Deborah Joy of Lake Forest. Pastor Jerry and his wife Mary have also served parishes in Des Moines, Iowa and Lakefield, Minnesota. In 2001, Pastor Jerry accepted a call to serve as Director of Development & Recruitment at Lutheran High School, Mayer, Minnesota and most recently served as Administrative Pastor at St. John Lutheran Church and School, Chaska, Minnesota. On Jun 12th, 2006 he was elected to receive the call to North Shore Lutheran Ministry. Pastor Jerry, Mary and his daughter Deborah now reside in Lake Forest. |
